Population: Police officers and command staff
A workshop focusing on personal sharing and commemorating the fallen, while connecting to shared values. Participants examine the meaning of Memorial Day for them and their place as those who continue the path of serving the state and society.
The workshop reviews the development of the date and content of Memorial Day, beginning with the fall of Tel Hai on the 11th of Adar exactly one hundred years ago. It addresses the issue of shaping memory from the perspective of Jewish tradition and from the perspective of the State of Israel and the IDF; It concludes with the concept of the "covenant of Israeli society" as reflected in Israel's wars, in the tension between a covenant of blood and a covenant of life.
The workshop touched on the significance of Memorial Day for us as individuals and as a society, the sanctity of human life, and the place of this value in the choice of those who serve in the Israel Police Force in this mission.
