A year of service – a year of meaning

The year of service is a significant turning point for young people before enlisting in the military – a year that allows them to pause from the rat race, enter a world of responsibility and social action, and have a formative experience of independent living in a group. This lecture focuses on the values and personal growth inherent in this choice, alongside an explanation of the practical aspects of the process. The aim is to give students a comprehensive introduction to the options, dilemmas, and significance of the year of service.
