The State of Israel has been a democratic country since its establishment, embracing different groups, movements, and opinions and dealing with complex social tensions. Young people who grow up and mature in Israel have lived in a democratic country since birth or since immigrating to Israel. As educators, we have a duty to educate the adult citizens of the future—citizens who do not live democracy passively and unconsciously, but choose to be democratic in all areas of life, realizing the values of human dignity and social responsibility that underlie democracy.
Against the backdrop of growing anti-democratic tendencies in Israeli society, we believe it is important to strengthen democratic awareness and responsibility among young people. This seminar addresses this issue by presenting current social dilemmas and emphasizing that each of us has a crucial role to play in shaping the reality of our country.
