The conversation surrounding Memorial Day for IDF soldiers and victims of hostile acts is sensitive and emotionally charged every year.
Since July 10, hundreds of soldiers have been killed and thousands more wounded, physically or mentally. Israeli society stands determined to fight and defend its existence.
Amidst the intense fighting, important questions arise: What values are we fighting for? What kind of society will we build here to honor the memory of our lost loved ones and justify the terrible price we have paid?
We will dedicate the activity to commemorating the fallen, giving space to our students' feelings of mourning, pain, and sadness, and also to important questions about the future and hope.
Objectives:
- The trainees learn about 10 personal stories of fallen soldiers and write a personal letter to the fallen soldier or his family.
- Choosing a guiding value that will give meaning to the price paid by the fallen and their families in their deaths, and clarifying the meaning of life in light of this value.
- Duke Maser – What will we remember about those who fell in life and death, and what is the order of the day?
*What is required for the activity: Classroom and projection equipment
