Workshop: “The Police at the Forefront of Democracy”

The public must be educated to view the police as friends, helpers, representatives of the community, and enforcers of the law. The police must educate the people and view the law not as a decree but as an expression of the will of the people, an order made for the benefit of the public, which does not restrict the freedom of the individual but protects the freedom of others..."

In these challenging times, there is a vital need for police officers to meet and discuss the challenges facing the police in a democratic society, to process their encounters with citizens at a time when society is in a "state of war," and to strengthen their sense of mission.

This workshop provides a platform for dialogue between police officers and command staff on fundamental issues concerning the role of the police in a democratic society: police-society relations, statehood, police discretion, the values of the Israel Police, and the police in a diverse and polarized society.

Through photographs, films, and illustrations, we will explore the uniqueness and challenges of policing in a democratic society and reinforce the sense of mission of police officers as defenders of democracy.

Strengthening the ethical and professional competence of police officers to deal with the challenges facing the police in a democratic society at this time.
State police in times of war and social crisis – emphasizing the importance of statehood in police work.
Creating peer dialogue around real dilemmas from the mission routine Processing the experience of the police officers within it.
Strengthening the sense of mission among police officers in relation to their duties.

צעד אחר צעד: סדנה לחיזוק עבודת הצוות

הסדנה מזמינה את השוטרים לעצור בתוך שגרת השירות, להתבונן על מערכות היחסים בצוות ולברר מה גורם לנו לסמוך זה על זה — כאנשים, כעמיתים וכשותפים למשימה. דרך תרגילים חווייתיים, שיח אישי, עבודה בזוגות וברביעיות וסקר אנונימי, המשתתפים בוחנים מצבים שבהם תחושת הביטחון בצוות מתחזקת או נפגעת, ומזהים את המרכיבים שמאפשרים עבודת צוות יציבה ובריאה: רגישות, אמינות, אחריות, יושרה וקבלה ללא שיפוטיות.

בהמשך הסדנה מתורגמת ההתבוננות האישית והצוותית לצעדים מעשיים: המשתתפים בוחרים התנהגויות קונקרטיות שהם רוצים לקחת על עצמם כדי לחזק את הצוות, משתפים ברגעים שבהם חבריהם יצרו עבורם חוויה של ביטחון וסמיכה, ומסיימים ביצירת מחויבות משותפת להמשך הדרך. הסדנה מדגישה כי צוות חזק לא נבנה רק באירועים גדולים, אלא בהרבה מעשים קטנים ויומיומיים שמצטברים ומאפשרים לשוטרים לפעול יחד מתוך אחריות, פתיחות ותחושת שותפות.

"Roots of Strength" Workshop for Commanders

In the workshop, we will delve into the dramatic role of heritage and values in the functioning of the unit, in carrying out its mission, and in strengthening the sense of mission among the police officers.

In the first part, we will examine the formal and informal dimensions of unit life as arenas in which the commander can Engage with the values of the Israel Police, the heritage of the police force, and the unit.

מבנה הפעילות:

חלק ראשון: היכרות עם הערך שבהתמקדות בחוזקות ובהצלחות ככלי ללמידה ולשיפור, עבודה על זיהוי החוזקות האישיות של כל אחד והמשתתפים ומקומו של הצוות בהדהוד והעצמה של אותן חוזקות.

חלק שני: למידת עמיתים מונחית דרך הצלחות של המשתתפים בתפקידם – כיצד ניתן ללמוד מאותן הצלחות ולשחזר אותן?

What is the connection between the value of camaraderie and values such as striving for contact and professionalism?

How do you train the value of camaraderie in a unit?

In this experiential workshop, we will discuss the place of camaraderie within the values of the Israel Police and the heritage of the Jewish defense force. We will highlight the place of this value in the unit today and understand how it can be practiced.

בסדנא נספר את סיפור תרבותם ועלייתם של יהודי אתיופיה בפריזמה חדשה, השמה דגש על חלקם הדרמטי של פעילים ומחנכים מהקהילה האתיופית בסיפור העלייה ועל הערכים אותם ניתן לקחת מסיפור זה לחיינו בכלל ולמשימת השוטרים בפרט. הסדנא מלווה בתערוכה מרהיבה העוברת דרך מספר חלקים: החיים באתיופיה, חלוצי החינוך היהודי והציוני, המסע והעליות לארץ ישראל ומבט להווה ולעתיד.
