Trust Building Workshop

For commanders at the rank of major and above / permanent status

Building trust

The workshop deals with the deep crisis of trust that erupted following the events of October 7, which also affects the IDF. We will learn about organizational and human tools for rebuilding trust within the system: we will examine what builds trust and what undermines it, the difference between trust and popularity, and how to bridge the gap between stated values and perceived values. The workshop includes a discussion of examples from unit life and invites participants to explore ways to create an organizational culture that builds trust.

 

The HaMeorer Training Center offers workshops for commanders that focus on ethical and educational competence as an integral part of command. The workshops emphasize the understanding that a commander's role includes not only operational leadership but also educational responsibility and ethical professionalism.

During the workshops, we will learn to identify deeper layers of events within the unit—on the ethical, social, and human levels—and turn everyday situations into command and educational opportunities.

Commanders experiment with informal tools for leadership and dialogue, deepening their understanding that values are not only learned as knowledge, but are realized through experience, personal example, and leadership of organizational culture.

You can book a single workshop as needed, or hold a concentrated seminar entitled "The Educating Commander," which includes a discussion of the commander's educational role and a series of workshops selected by the unit.

Tour of the Shalom region

A tour of the unique history of the Shalom region, which has been shaped by the decisions and controversies that have shaped the State of Israel: the evacuation of Yamit, the evacuation of Gush Katif, and the events of October 7 in this region.

This section is dedicated to direct encounters with diverse communities in Israel, with current controversies and their expression in the IDF, and with the current reality in light of the ”Iron Swords“ war. We will delve into the social and cultural complexity of the country and meet social activists who are trying, in their own way, to build a shared future from the present. Through honest and in-depth dialogue, participants will address questions of identity, partnership, solidarity, and the challenges of defense and Zionism in our time.

Lecture for reserve duty soldiers – Defensible borders

In this lecture, we will examine the concept of "defensible borders" as defined by Yigal Allon, through a historical and security review of Israel's borders throughout the 20th century and up to the present day. The lecture focuses on the geographical, strategic, and political aspects of border demarcation, and is tailored specifically to reserve soldiers who defend the country's borders. It emphasizes the relevance of the concept of “defensible borders” to current missions, including an examination of the "Iron Swords" war and its significance in shaping Israel's borders and maintaining its security.
