Tour of mixed cities in Acre

Unlike historical tours, the social tour of Acre focuses on the connection between people and place, the relationships between the city's different communities, and the challenges and dilemmas that arise from Acre being one of the most mixed cities in Israel.

We will learn about the different peoples who lived and live in Acre, its historical importance in the fields of economics and trade, and its development over the last few centuries until the establishment of the State of Israel.

We will examine the reality of life in Acre today, after the events of Operation Guardian of the Walls and Operation Iron Swords, and encounter test cases – religious conflict, immigrant absorption, educational and social issues – and ask what is the right thing to do in the current reality. We will delve into issues surrounding the encounter between Zionism and shared living, asking what strengthens and what weakens the ability to live together, not side by side but with one another.

The tour guides in Acre live in the city, love it and its residents, and work together and individually to create a better and more just reality, in order to realize the tremendous potential that exists here to serve as an example and model for Israeli coexistence.
